Day 39 ~ Project 365

I had plans to go to the gym tonight, but it was one of those nights where I allowed myself to be distracted by a book and cup of hot tea.  I’ve felt the need to simplify lately.  I don’t really even know what that means, because there are so many aspects of my life that I could simplify.  I’m sure you have felt like I have lately – pulled in too many conflicting directions.  Overwhelmed to the point of pointlessness {which is mostly my own fault}.  Because of this, I suppose I have been trying to pay special attention to those little thoughts in my head that say no, you don’t have to do that right this minute…just sit and BE.

Be quiet.

Be peaceful.

Be healthy.

Be content.

Be simple.

So, I did.

We ended up at the Blue Star again tonight, and it is definitely a lot more enjoyable when it is NOT First Friday.  I think the cooks behind the counter thought I was taking pictures of them and the kitchen, because they were acting a little nervous.  Once I looked up at them and our eyes met, we all had a good laugh :)

Today was First Friday here in SA, so Ian and I headed downtown to check out all the open art galleries.  Some of the galleries are really creative and interesting to visit, while others are just…different – like the one in this picture.  I try my best to have an open mind about art and how others express their creativity and how they see the world, but some stuff that people consider art is just plain freaking weird.  Naked mannequins decorated with Christmas lights are not what I would consider art.

But then again, this did make for an interesting and unique shot of the day.  So what do I really know?  Not a lot, I guess.

Day 35 ~ Project 365 (FAIL)

CompactFlash card FAIL.

This has never happened to me before!  I took some memorable pictures tonight, and was super excited to go through them when I got home.  But when I went to import my photos into Lightroom, the computer screen turned black and a message popped up that instructed me to turn the computer off.  I immediately called Ian, and his response was, “Woman, how on Earth did you destroy a MAC??”  He is right – I have a special electromagnetic field that radiates from my skin and tends to break most modern electronics.  It’s the strangest thing – a couple months ago I even caused a ten-key calculator at work to start randomly printing upside down on the calculator tape.  To this day, it has never recovered from our star-crossed encounter.

Anyways, the Mac seems fine, but my pictures from the day are gone.  Gone are the most beautiful pictures of ketchup bottles, kids sticking their hands in cake, and Amanda’s 30th birthday gathering.  Seriously, you have never seen pictures of ketchup like this before.  I feel so betrayed.  Deprived.  Helpless.  It’s worse than the season 4 finale of Dexter, which was extremely traumatizing for me.

It’s still rainy and dreary in South Texas.  Which means Major is still drunk on his anxiety prescriptions.  Not that you can tell, right?

These eyes are tired.  I’m still having a lot of trouble sleeping, and I have no idea why.  I have started to hit the gym at night and really push myself, with hopes that perhaps I will be…tired.  Until better sleep returns, the B&W filter helps to hide my dark circles and bloodshot eyes.  There’s a lot on my mind lately.  I never thought I was the kind of person to lose sleep over things I can’t control, but perhaps I’m still getting to know the person behind these eyes.  I’m ok with that.
